BIO

(b. 1978, USA) Julia Chiang is an artist based in Brooklyn, N.Y. She uses text and familiar imagery that often finds its way through her various mediums. Her process is often repetitious and reveals the imperfections and efforts of the handmade. Chiang's work has been exhibited at places such as Nanzuka Gallery, Tokyo; Colette, Paris; Half Gallery, New York; Bill Brady KC, Kansas City; and Deitch Projects, N.Y. She has been granted residencies at Anderson Ranch, The Vermont Studio Center, and Henry Street Settlement. Julia's work has been written about in publications such as Modern Painters, Paper Magazine, Art in America, and Purple. Later this year Julia will have solo exhibitions at Nanzuka Gallery in Tokyo and Bill Brady KC in Kansas City.
